Do you need to apostille your Driver’s License?

If you intend to drive in another country, you may be required to provide an Apostille on a color copy of your driver’s license to validate it for use in that country.

First, you will need to have a copy of your driver’s license certified by a Notary Public in the state that issued your driver’s license. Make sure you choose an experienced licensed Notary knowledgeable on document certification for use abroad. 

If you are already outside of the United States, your family member or a friend can obtain a notarized copy of your Driver’s license on your behalf. So, if you are in Germany, for instance, and your Driver’s License is from the state of Oregon, you can ask your family member or a trusted person located in Oregon to take your Driver’s License to a Notary Public in Oregon, have it copy certified, notarized and mail it to our office for Apostille processing. Please note that the Notary Public will request to see an original driver’s license to perform certification. A color copy of the driver’s license can only be signed and notarized in the State that issued it. 

As soon as you received your Driver’s License notarized copy, you will need to mail it to our office for Apostille processing. 

Obtaining an apostille can be intricate. Avoid leaving this task for inexperienced staff or non-professionals who are not fully aware of the complexities of the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your application may be rejected, and you lose time and money. Make a better choice!
