Apostille for India

Do your documents require an apostille for use in India?

Legalization of documents like affidavits, bank statements, salary statements, employment letters of the applicant, power of attorney, color copy of Indian passport, copy of documents issued by U.S. authorities (Passport, Driver’s License, corporate documents, etc.) requires notarization before the Secretary of State office can issue an apostille.

We provide apostille service on documents signed and notarized in all US States and the District of Columbia. After you receive your documents with the apostille from us, you will then need to contact the Consulate General of India for further instructions.

A power of attorney (POA) for use in India must be signed and witnessed by two individuals (with their full names and addresses clearly stated). We recommend that you should visit the Consulate General of India website for detailed instructions on how to prepare POA, or have it created professionally in India for you.

In many places in India, the attestation by the Indian Embassy/Consulate office is more recognized than just the apostille from the US Secretary of State office. Therefore, to avoid any delays or issues with your Power of Attorney acceptance in India, we recommend that your document is apostilled AND attested by the Indian Embassy or Consulate office.

The country of India has the Embassy in Washington DC and five Consulate General offices in the United States:

• California (San Francisco)
• Texas (Houston)
• Illinois (Chicago)
• Georgia (Atlanta)
• New York (NYC)

Please consult with the Indian Embassy or Consular office on instructions before beginning to process your document. You may be required to notarize additional documents to show proof that you are currently a legal U.S. resident. Below are the common documents the Indian Consulate may ask you to provide:

• U.S Driver’s license
• Utility bill displaying applicant’s address
• House Lease Agreement
• Mortgage Deed
• Bank/credit card/mobile phone bill statements

Obtaining an apostille can be intricate. Avoid leaving this task for inexperienced staff or non-professionals who are not fully aware of the complexities of the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your application may be rejected, and you will lose time and money. Make a better choice!

Our experts are available Monday through Friday from 10.00 AM to 6.00 PM. Please call us at 1-770-447-0360 and we will answer all your questions and offer easy to follow detailed instructions.

"When I was trying to get OCI Processing for my son done in India, I came to know that birth certificate Apostille should be submitted. I was not aware of such a thing. I was not sure whom to trust, I have sent emails to few agencies who said they will get it done. The one thing I really liked about Global Apostille is their prompt response and clear communication through emails."
